Dr. C. Keith Melvin

Lifetime Achievement in STEM

C. Keith Melvin, MD FAAC graduated from Withrow High School, Fisk University, and University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati and has practiced clinical medicine for over 40 years. He is currently the Attending Physician for the Graduate Medical Education Program of Jewish Hospital where he teaches intern and resident physicians. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where he teaches medical students during their four years of school emphasizing the African-American student population.

Dr. Melvin is a lecturer and motivational speaker. He has been a National Grand Rounds Series Lecturer, has spoken at local high schools, men’s health programs regionally, and has promoted health and wellness to the African-American community for years. He is president and CEO of Community Health Speaks and President of the Black and White Cancer Survivors’ Foundation which promotes early cancer detection by encouraging timely and vigilant cancer screening so more lives can be saved. His efforts have served to mitigate the health disparities in our community. He also led the Mercy Health team with the first Covid testing site in the urban core of Cincinnati where 5000 tests where administered in Bond Hill.

He has received the Health Champion award, the Citation of Excellence award and the Lifetime Achievement award from Closing the Health Gap. He was the Business Courier’s Healthcare Hero and was awarded the Pillar of the Community award presented by the University of Cincinnati’s African-American Alumni Association. Lastly, he recently received the prestigious Daniel Drake Humanitarian Award from the Cincinnati Academy of Medicine, the Academy’s highest honor.
